23/01/03 - More download locations for OccupationV2 OccupationV2 can now also be downloaded from the Massassi Temple. That's what I call fast posting, less than 24 hours after the file was submitted, and it's a very large file. Nice :) TheMassassiTemple 22/01/03 - OccupationV2 avaliable for download I am extremely happy to announce that OccupationV2 is now avaliable for download at pcgamemods.com. A big thankyou for the guy who runs the site, Sergio, for getting the file up and for all the great screenshots! Version 2 of Occupation is Occupation how I originally intended it to be, and iS the final release. Kyle is now fully visable with the custom skin by Hapslash, and all the missing textures in the level should now be there. I hope everyone enjoys the map and please feel free to send me any feedback on it, it's always great to hear what people think about any of my maps. A big thanks also to everyone who helped me to spot the problems and get Occupation Version2 done. 08/01/03 - Problems with Occupation Sad to say there have been some unforseen problems with Occupation. I only discovered these problems after submitting Occupation to a number of map sites. Basically, Kyle is invisible, and there are many occurances of grey with white lines where a texture should be. I tested the map thoroughtly before release, how could I possibly have missed such obvious problems? I had some pk3s in my base folder, including the Jedi Stealth Gear pk3 and the pk3 of my MP map Medieval. It turns out that the skin wasn't set up right and neither were all the textures, but because these files were in my base folder (the missing textures are from Medieval) I couldn't see the problem. I discovered the problem when I was working on some groundwork on the next map and was looking at changing the Kyle skin for a rebel. I loaded the mod up but the skin was that of Kyle in stealth Gear. It clicked in a horrible few moments. I hurriedly set about making sure what was broke and fixing it, and I put together OccupationV2 that night, and submitted it to all the map sites ASAP. Luckily the first version of Occupation was only put up on JediKnightii.net before I realised the problem, sadly Occupation is currently approaching the 1,500 downloads mark. It's a bit difficult to see all the downloads of the map when you know the problems with it will really reduce the enjoyment people get out of it and will ruin it a bit. I'd like to appologise to all the people who have downloaded the first version of Occupation, I realise it's a massive download and it must be a big dissapointment to find it isn't all in working order. I'd also like to appologise to all the map sites who I have caused a problem for by submitting a flawed file. I will post download locations for OccupationV2 as soon as it goes up on one of the sites. I wouldn't recommend downloading or playing Occupation from JediKnightii.net if you haven't already because it will probabaly spoil the final working thing a bit. Hopefully they will replace the error-strewn version with the working version soon. I have learned a valuable lesson from this, it is important to have beta testing from people on different systems to yours, Adam Johnson was only involved in playtesting not bug-spotting on this sytem so no blame can be attached to him for the problems. The problem with others beta testing this map was that due to it's large file size no one could recieve it on an email account. I will make use of the excellent beta testing feature on opcgamemods in future if possible as a good solution to the above problem. Download locations of OccupationV2 will appear here as soon as I see them! 27/12/02 - Occupation finished My latest SP map, Occupation, is finally complete! I have submitted it to a number of JK2/map sites, I will post links to download locations when they appear. Took a while to send, it's a little over 24 meg. Over 10 meg of this is voice acting, a few meg for a custom Kyle skin, a few more megs for a lot of custom textures, and then the maps themselves. I am very pleased with the map, it's got a lot of stuff I haven't been able to do until this map which have given me more creative freedom, and I did enjoy putting it together. With the map finished I have begun updating the site. I have just completed an update of the characters page with info on all the characters in occupation, the voice actors page has also been updated. I will be working on getting the details on Occupation on the maps page down in the next few days, which will include hints on various hiden parts of the map. The storyline page will also recieve an overhaul shortly to include details on planets, corperations and things like this involved in the plot. I am also going to be adding some new tutorials on cutscenes soon, before I start large scale work on the next map I have planned. I will update the WIP page soon to give some details on this. The map will involve playing not as Kyle but as a Republic soldider who will be fighting with a team of other guys with varying weapons and attributes. I'm thinking something along the lines of Opposing Force, more on it soon. 25/11/02 - Cutscene Tutorials I have just completed cutscene tutorials 1,2 and 3. These take you through from installing and configuring BehavEd to creating a simple static shot cutscene and then moving cameras and zooming. More on the way soon, any feedback welcome. 19/11/02 - Occupation nearing completion My latest SP level, Occupation, is close to completion. The first stage of beta testing is done, I'm making changes ready for stage 2, and waiting on a couple of other things related to the map. Hopefully it will be out within a month! I'll post some screenshots of the latest version soon. 19/11/02 - Medieval avaliable for download Medieval is now avaliable for download: PCGameMods JediKnight2.Net Medieval Completed I've just completed the final version of Medieval! I am now sending it off to some JK2 sites and will give links to them when it is hopefully posted up :) Info on the map and screensots of the finished version of the mpa should be up on the mpa section of the site in the next day or so. Megaman Comic of Doom Wotno, one of the voice actors who'll be appearing in the upcoming map Occupation, also runs an online mega man comic in his free time between voice acting for me (they don't get paid but I demand all voice actors are damn professional about it and don't send me a voice sample that they did in less than 20 takes...). He asked if I could link to it and so I have decided to point the truely awesome number of people who frequent this site to his site, which is indeed very funny in a strange, clearly demented kind of way that strikes a chord with me at least.
