Hideout
Date Released: 12/06/02
Type: Single Player
Story: Investigation, part 1
Plot: Kyle and a Padawan attempt to rescue the Padawan's master from a hideout located off a narrow sidestreet.
Background Info: There is rumoured to be a weapons cache nearby.
The Padawan's master went missing whilst investigating some strange activities based somewhere on the planet. The Padawan had been told to get help by his master before his master went missing, and had been attempting to do this before he went missing. Clearly the Jedi supected he was in danger.

Notes: The first map I ever released. It was also only the second map I'd ever tried to build for JK2, and the first one to go beyond a few hours build time. It's hardly surprising then that it was fairly flawed, and certainly fairly basic. I still feel that it was good to release a level fairly on in my learning curve with JK2Radient, because it meant that I learnt what you have to do to release a level early on, and so from then onI wasn't just working to some hyperthetical goal, I was working specifically to release maps. For me, this was an incentive I needed, working on maps for the sake of it without the belief you can release them one day didn't really appeal to me.
I admit it was certainly far from great in many ways, it was totally linear, it had Z-fighting all over the place, the gun firing enemies didn't move, the gameplay was very repetitive; each room has enemies to kill. There was hardly any detail, most of the rooms were totally bare.
One of the major highlights with the map for me, was having both full force powers and a Jedi on your side, against gun using opponents, which I don't think happened that much in the main Jedi Knight 2 single player game. I managed to get a lift that just about worked, and the room with the pillars where all the Dark Jedi jump out at you and the other Jedi fights with you against a lot of them (if he gets down the lift that is) was probabaly the best bit of the map for me.
